उज्जयिनी — {uj-jayinī} f. the city Oujein (the Gk. ?, a city so [174, 3] called in Avanti or Mālava, formerly the capital of Vikramāditya##it is one of the seven sacred cities of the Hindūs, and the first meridian of their geographers, from which they calculate longitude##the modern Oujein is about a mile south of the ancient city) Hit.
